NBA and NBA-2 Scoring Efficiency & Usage (SEU)

SEU is a regression residual, not a weighted composite: actual true shooting percentage minus the true shooting percentage a player at that usage rate would be expected to post. Positive means more efficient than the workload alone would predict; negative means efficiency is slipping under the load.
SEU measures whether a player's scoring efficiency holds up under the offensive load they carry — actual True Shooting % compared with the True Shooting % a player at that usage rate would be expected to post, percentile-ranked across the full international pool. Higher = more efficient than expected for the shots a player takes on. Click any column header to re-sort.

SEU is a regression residual, not a weighted composite:

InputRoleDescription
USG%x-axisUsage rate — the share of team possessions a player uses while on the floor
TS%y-axisTrue Shooting % — overall scoring efficiency, including free throws and threes

A line is fit through TS% against USG% across the qualified pool. SEU is the gap between a player's actual TS% and the TS% that line predicts at their usage rate — positive means more efficient than usage alone would predict, negative means efficiency is slipping under the load. That gap is then percentile-ranked across all qualified international players. A score of 90+ = top 10% most efficient scorer at their usage level, internationally.
